Mrs. Bunn's AP Government & Politics students participated in Senator for a Day: a seminar for future leaders at NCC, hosted by State Senator Rosemary Brown and her staff. Students took part in a mock Senate session and had an engaging, hands-on experience in the legislative process.
Student Senators were assigned to Senate committees like Judiciary, Education, and Health and Human Service where actual lobbyists moderated the committee process. They were guided in the discussion of bills, took positions on legislation, and even drafted legislation for the full Senate to consider. They did an excellent job passing mock bills and engaging in the legislative process.
